How-to

How to turn a photo into a coloring page (free)

You do not need design software or an account. Here is the whole process, start to print, in about a minute.

What you need

A photo you own or have permission to use, and a browser. Nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.

Step 1 — Upload your photo

Open the free converter and drop in a JPG or PNG from your phone or computer.

Your photoColoring page

Step 2 — Let the converter trace the lines

The tool converts your photo into clean, closed outlines. If the result looks busy, crop tighter on the subject and try again.

Step 3 — Download and print

Download the 300 dpi PNG or US Letter PDF and print at 100% scale for sharp lines.

Which photos work well

One clear subject, good light, and a simple background. Faces, pets, houses, and favorite toys convert most reliably; very dark or cluttered photos make cluttered line art.

What happens to your photo

Your full uploaded image is sent to OpenAI for automated safety moderation. If it passes, the app converts it with local server-side image processing. The source image and result are processed in memory and are not intentionally persisted by the app.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?+
Yes. You can generate up to 5 coloring pages a day across the text and photo tools combined, and the quota resets every day. Name coloring pages are unlimited. Free downloads include a small watermark.
Do I need to sign up?+
No. There is no account, no email form, and no login. Open the tool, make your page, and download it.
What happens to my uploaded photo?+

What format can I download?+
Every page downloads as a print-ready PNG (300 dpi) or a PDF sized for US Letter paper.
Can I print it? What paper size?+
Yes — that is the point. Downloads are sized for standard US Letter paper and print on any home or school printer. For sharp lines, print at 100% scale.
Who owns the coloring pages I create?+
We do not claim ownership of the pages you generate. Under current US Copyright Office guidance, purely AI-generated images may not be eligible for copyright protection, and we cannot guarantee that any output is protectable, unique, or free of third-party claims. If you convert your own photo, the result is a transformation of your image and you keep whatever rights you hold in the original. Please read the AI Content & Copyright Disclaimer before relying on any particular use.
Can I convert any photo?+
Any photo you own or have permission to use. Please do not upload other people's copyrighted images, photos of people without their consent, or branded characters.
